Sony Hong Kong “Kando Trip 2025”
In August 2025, Sony Hong Kong hosted “Kando Trip 2025,” a four-day event that brought 31 top creators from around the world to Japan. The program embodied Sony’s “Creative Entertainment Vision,” which aims to create and deliver boundless inspiration.
On Day 2, the venue was Kiunkaku—an Important Cultural Property that reflects the evolution of Atami’s culture. Utilizing its historical Japanese rooms and traditional garden, participants enjoyed exclusive photo sessions, including a special shoot during the Atami Sea Fireworks Festival.

Samurai Sword-Action Session
The first program featured a dynamic samurai sword-action photo session performed by Team ○○.
Three locations within Kiunkaku were used: the grand hall with the Japanese garden as backdrop, the garden facing the wooden Japanese residence, and an atmospheric tatami room.
The powerful scenes of clashing swords and the elegant choreography inside the Japanese room transported participants to what felt like the Edo period. It was a mesmerizing moment where history and artistry seamlessly intertwined.

Self-Photo Session in Yukata
Next was a yukata experience supported by “Studio Sharaku” located in front of Kiunkaku.
Creators selected their favorite yukata and obi, slipping into Japan’s traditional casual summer wear.
Though unfamiliar at first, they soon enjoyed admiring each other’s outfits and freely explored the estate—taking photos and strolling through the historic interiors.

High-Fashion Session Blending Japanese Culture and Contemporary Trends
In the evening, Kiunkaku was reserved entirely for a special fashion shoot.
Two spaces were used: Kirin, a Japanese-style room known for its striking blue walls, and Tamahime, a Western-style building that harmonizes both Japanese and European architectural influences.
In the Japanese room, models posed against a tokonoma alcove adorned with the hanging scroll “Ryū Kiun” (Rising Dragon and Clouds). Photographer Kazumi Watanabe held a live demonstration session as well.
Both the Japanese and Western rooms brought out the distinctive character of Kiunkaku’s architecture, allowing participants to pursue unique visual expressions that fused tradition with modern fashion trends.

The works created by global creators and the Sony team breathed new life into Kiunkaku. Together, they captured the moment when traditional Japanese culture was reimagined and elevated through the power of creativity.
Kiunkaku accepts full-facility rentals—including its cultural-property rooms—for press events, company gatherings, and other corporate uses. Our specialized staff will support you from preparation to cleanup according to your needs.
